CHALLENGE

The aim was to elevate the function of the product with a useful innovation. This would involve a great degree of research which is known to be a major strength of the Delft design process.

SOLUTIONS

Our team found that a common issue was that people couldn’t identify the temperature while cooking, leading to food being unevenly cooked and sometimes life threatening oil fires. We developed a way to safely mount a thermocouple within the cookware with a screen and bluetooth connection. The handle acted as a heatsink dissipating thermal energy before it could reach and damage these electronics
